At ValCo Leather we believe in the ideals of making things by hand from quality materials whose identity can be traced far back to the early days of the civilized world. Our products embody the simplicity and truth of leather, as a material that has stood and will continue to stand the test of time.

Hello, Valery Comeau here! I started ValCo Leather about 12 years ago with the support of my wife Betty Comeau. If our work looks familiar, it might be because you have seen it before. Prior to launching this website we were regular exhibitors at the Dieppe Farmers’ Market in Dieppe New Brunswick, and have attended several other markets in the Greater Moncton area, such as the Moncton Farmers’ Market and the Turner’s Market, held at the Moncton Coliseum.

Hailing from Richibucto New Brunswick, in Canada’s East Coast, I spent much of my youth around horses and saddlery. This eventually led me to my interest in repairing items fashioned from leather. As my experiences accumulated I began to look to apply my leatherworking skills to items suited to the daily life and needs of people. I now find myself making a wide array of products to serve as handy, long term companions their owners can depend on for quality and steadfastness.

Today my work is a reflection of the lessons I have learned along the way and the values that have held true for me throughout my life. My designs are inspired by the world around me, my ideals and the input of others.

As a small town artisan I am ever conscious and proud of the place I am from, and in all things that I have been blessed to create I wish to instill a deliberate sense of honesty that is true to me and my place in this world.
